Indie Brit (10 out of 10 ) OK for all those people who haven't realised it yet this is a piece of moving writing genius. Its a great script brought to life by a genius like Bryan Singer and such acters as Del Torro and Spacey and Byrne and Baldwin and my favourite Kevin Pollack. This is quite frankly one of the best movies ever made with the best twist ending ever - if you haven't seen it then get your act together and get the 2 disc DVD cause its so awesome.
Dennis (10 out of 10 ) At last, a movie that has all the cool stuff that makes it stand out from the rest. Does this guy still do sceenplays? He is top notch! Great movie. One of the best ever made.
Arthur Phillips (1 out of 10 ) "moviing writing genius"?
Yeah we're really going to take that kind of of critique seriously.
Chandler (10 out of 10 ) As the credits rolled the first time I saw this, I was physically unable to do anything but sit, agape and awed, and ponder the film I had just seen. The genius of screenplays such as this one is that it allows you to watch the film countless times and still appreciate it just as much every time. I myself have watched this film no fewer than 17 times, and still find new things in it every single time. I acknowledge that some people may find this movie to be a mere trick, but I feel that these people are just so stubborn that they refused to concede that they were completely duped for over 90 minutes. In fact, I look at the strong mix of 10 and 1 star reviews on IMDB as all the more evidence that this is an excellent film. After all, how can something be considered genius if it doesn't piss a lot of people off?
Bryan Singer (9 out of 10 ) Hey Arthur, we're here to comment on the script, not the commenter. All around great writing, great production, and great editing. Definitely a must see.
Paftin Diccolas (10 out of 10 ) Classic masterpiece. Get the DVD quick. Kevin Spacey goes legendary in this film.
Benjamin Wehde (10 out of 10 ) An instant classic and one of my all time favorites. A rare gem where many titan talents including actors, director, and screenwriter were at the time undervalued but brought to one place to shine on an incredible project. I love it and a huge hurrah to everyone involved.
barak (10 out of 10 ) By far one of the greatest movies ever made. Brilliant script along with directing and an outstanding cast of actors. This is modern cinema.
Jeffrey Lebowski (10 out of 10 ) Not one of the best movies ever made. It's THE best movie ever made. This is a beautiful script that has been made into a beautiful movie. It's funny, intense and shocking all at the same time. Highly, highly, HIGHLY recomended. The twist at the end will leave you speechless. Whenever I show this movie to friends I enjoy seeing the looks on their faces when the credits roll. Love this bloody movie. I'm off to watch it now.
Gene (10 out of 10 ) The first time I watched this film, I wondered why Special Agent Kujan dropped his coffee. The cup broke and bounced. Coffee splattered on his leather shoes and suit pants. I didn't get it. What did he see? And then...wow! "The greatest trick the Devil ever played was convincing the world he doesn't exist. And like that, he's gone." Jesus, there just aren't that many movies made that measure up to this film. Well done, Christopher McQuarrie. Well done.
Clare (10 out of 10 ) This is a true classic. Very few films can draw in an audience with such little reliablitly, only to twist, and mock with its sudden (yet subtle) allowence of realization. I love the fact that this was built on a relitivley low budget and made with without the hassel of Hollywood formula, yet transformed into a stunning work of art. Kevin Spacey (personally, my favorite actor ever) shows nothing but quality, bearing in mind, he is basically playing two characters of oppisite characteristics in a single performance. Amazingly directed and a masterpiece of a script.
t3h fake (9 out of 10 ) I liked the movie but I don't have the patience to figure out what was a lie and what was the truth. Maybe you 17-time watcher people can explain it to me?
cr (10 out of 10 ) Yes, I agree this is one of the greatest movies of all time and the writing is brilliant in terms of plot and dialogue. I, however, didn't like the way the explication of scenes was written. For example, telling the reader how somebody felt is actually annoying to me in a script. A script should tell the reader what the audience is going to see and hear and not delve into character's emotions the way a novel would. I actually found the writing a little irritating for that reason and had I not seen the movie before having read the script, would not have fully appreciated the story. I was especially disappointed by the way the last page of the script was written. Thankfully it found its way into the hands of the right director.
Verbal (9 out of 10 ) @ t3h fake: It is confusing, especially if you've only seen it once, and many people dismiss the plot as nonsensical without paying attention to detail. (SPOLERS) Essentially, Verbal took the few facts that the police had gathered in the wake of the freighter fire- the name of Kaiser Sozei, and the identity of the criminals involved in the original lineup including himself- and changed everything else. His lawyer/accomplice, the details of the initial carjacking, the major points of his story were actual people and events (which the police were spending the whole time trying to run down) with the names and other details changed to make it virtually untraceable. So in essence, what we see in the film is a roughly accurate narrative of what happened, but exact names/dates/locations are false, improvised on the spot from visual cues in the police station. Overall brilliant pacing and dialogue. Love it.
Dev singh (10 out of 10 ) This movie is all about this great script and acting.
one two (7 out of 10 ) Kevin Spacey is Keiser Sosse. SAME INITIALS. Was this intentional or a coincidence?
